We are so delighted to debut the branding for wedding and event venue, Sorelle. If you haven’t caught on, we LOVE working with wedding venues and other industry professionals. This project was unique given that the venue is still being built. However, we absolutely love being a part of the process from the very beginning.

Located in Thomas, Oklahoma; Sorelle is a venue of its own. They plan to break the norm of their area and bring a more sophisticated, contemporary touch to weddings and events. However, they still pull off a rustic, country, ranch style with the best of them. In their own words, this venue “perfectly blends modern sophistication with a laid back country style”.

One of the best things about this family owned and operated venue is their name. Meaning ‘sisters’ in Italian, Sorelle couldn’t be more fitting! Being a part of a family business ourselves, this project is particularly meaningful to us. Owner of The Burlap Napkin, Wendy’s sister Traci will take the role of in-house caterer. The wedding planner role will be taken on by niece Cari. Both daughters Annie and Lindsey will jump in as artist and marketing director. Traci’s husband, David will be the builder, designer, and landscaper. Talk about a family affair!

Branding for a wedding and event venue calls for a different approach than say, a photographer. Both are heavily service oriented, however, venues service brides differently. Sorelle will provide many services that will make any wedding or special event exceptional. From providing the facility to full event planning, catering, decorating, wedding cakes, and even one of a kind art and floral installations, this venue has it all. People, beauty, creativity, originality all matter at Sorelle. Our goal for this project was to design a brand that brings all these values to life.

Logo Design Process

Providing alternative logo options brings versatility to a brand. For example, a stacked version of your logo might not fit well on a website, but great on a notecard. During the logo design process, we start simple and built on that foundation. Adding one embellishment after another allows us to clearly visualize the direction of a brand.

Typography

Typography is a crucial element in brand design. For Sorelle, we chose a friendly, refined script for the primary font. Accompanying the script is a chic serif and modern san serif. Marrying each of these typographic styles evokes a level of professionalism, style, and approachability.

Color Story

Choosing a color palette is a lot more important than you might realize. Colors evoke feelings and emotions and are a supportive backbone to your brand. Since this brand is so personal and family-centered, we were careful to choose a color scheme that reflects these core values.

The two primary colors are Emerald and Lavender. In ancient times, the emerald stone was considered to be one of love. Perfect for a venue meant to express love! Sophisticated and rich in tons, this color represents vitality and new beginnings. How fitting?? The color purple overall is associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition. Even more specifically, lavender exemplifies refinement, grace, and elegance. The neutrals of this color story bring an approachability to the brand. We went with dark charcoal for contrast and to be used on text and small details. Soft neutrals are great to use on stationery and throughout the website.

Stationery Design for Wedding and Event Venue Sorelle

For each custom brand project, we include a collection of stationery pieces. Each client is different, so the types of collateral we design will vary. For wedding venues, stationery plays an important role in their business. As a recent former bride myself, I understand the importance of organization and consistency when receiving information from a wedding venue.

The branch illustration translates across the brand, stationery, and website seamlessly. Used as a background transparent layer, this brand element brings texture to the business card design. Each rubber stamp designed will serve a different purpose. One that uniquely displays the address, another to add personal touch, and finally a return address for functional purposes. This letterhead design is simple, sophisticated, and lively.
